We live in a historic home built in 1890 by a local grocer named Alva C. Brown. It has seen many things over its long life and as the third family to own the home, we honor all the people who have walked through its doors over the decades. To learn more about the history of our home, click on the link below.
We are always interested in preserving the history of our home, our town and the random encounters we are fortunate enough to experience. One of these is a project we are currently working on to preserve and remember the lives of Bill Phelps and his wife Betty Jean Chapman Phelps. Join us for a look into the incredible lives of these two forgotten people and our role in bringing them back to life.
One of the recent random encounters was the rescue of a school yearbook from 1924. Produced by Shortridge High School in Indianapolis, IN, this yearbook contains some of the best examples of Art Nouveau prints & typography I have ever seen. Take a peek inside the cover and see if you agree.
One of the remarkable things about living in Thomasville is the everyday presence of the past. From old homes to memorials, there are almost endless stories to learn about as we get to know our new home and neighbors.
With historic districts and organizations like Landmarks, Thomasville is home to over one hundred historic homes. From the most well-known Lapham-Patterson House pictured to smaller bungalows located just next-door, we will present our research on the original owners of as many of the homes as we can.
One of the great things about living in this community is the support we receive from others who take the time to help us get old family photos back to the people who they belong to. Our most recent project is a box from the Halcyon Thrift Store. To learn more about the family we are searching for visit the link belo
